Radiosonde balloon transmitter

A Vaisala RS80 lightweight radiosonde balloon transmitter from the equipment used on the 1991 expedition to fly two balloons over Mount Everest.  The circuitry is contained in a polystyrene casing to protect it from freezing temperatures at 40,000 feet.

The primitive punched paper tape still in use in 1991 was used to input calibration data for each individual radiosonde.
