John Baker and Jennifer d'Alton discuss their shared passion for the history of
balloons and airships, with John sharing his extensive knowledge of the history and
manufacturing processes of these vehicles, John and Jennifer's enthusiasm and
dedication to ballooning were evident, as they discussed their experiences and
knowledge with warmth and passion.

  • John collects second-hand books on airships, balloons and including a rare
    book written in Esperanto.
  • He joined the Dante balloon group in December 1976 after meeting founder
    members at balloon meets. John's first flight was at Castle Howard in May
    1975.
  • John became the British Balloon & Airship Club archivist after discovering a
    cardboard box containing BBAC archives and membership lists.
  • He and others founded the British Balloon Museum in 1979.
  • John’s enthusiasm for the history and the stories of balloons and airships is
