Description:

Flying safety helmet used by Jean Ray. The helmet has been signed by many of the pilots she met in the early days of modern ballooning including  Mike Alexander, Don Cameron, Niall Duncan,  Chris Dunkley, John Gore, Giles Hall, David Harris, Alec Jenkinson, Peter Langford, William Malpas, Mike Moore, Julian Nott, Joe Philp, Laurie Ryan.

Manufactured by Stadium Limited, Enfield, a helmet was an important piece of ballooning equipment in the early days because, due to there being no flexi-rigid supports for the burner frame, protection to the head was very much a necessity during landing!
