Davey’s Derring-dos. Christopher Davey is the Speaker on October 27th

Christopher Davey has agreed to tell Friends of the Museum what really happened when he and Crispin Williams became the first balloonists to fly to Europe across the North Sea from Hull in 1980.

Some might remember Christopher as Don Cameron’s co-pilot for the Transatlantic flight in the Zanussi balloon in 1978 (they did not quite make it). Others might remember the giant Heineken balloon, with its double decker basket, which Christopher piloted.

Whatever you know, or do not know, about his many adventures and record breaking flights, the ex Army Major has agreed to be the post prandial speaker for the BBM&L at the Annual luncheon, andc-davey will doubtless touch on a few more of his adventures so you can find out more.

The luncheon is 12.00 for 12.30pm, at the Mercure Elcot Park Hotel near Newbury on Sunday 27th October, the day the clocks go back. It is preceded by the BBM&L AGM which starts at 10.30am.

The luncheon this year is the same price as last year, £24.00 per person, and you can book tickets online on this website, or send a cheque made out to BBM&L to Jennifer d’Alton, Chaucers, Oare, Hermitage, Thatcham, RG18 9SD.

As well as the 3 course luncheon, and this year, they promised it would be a good one, the Museum will also hold the Auction of Promises, some of the items are amazing and our President, Robin Batchelor, will do a splendid job of making sure you enjoy his auctioneering skills. Book now.
