Inflation Day 2010 a Resounding Success

Debs TogetherGood-Day to you All,

And what a GOOD day it was for the BBM&L on Saturday 15th after a VERY successful Inflation Day, hard work, but with in the region of 570 paying people through the gate a record breaker for traditional Inflation Days, that number makes it all the effort worthwhile and rewarding for the benefit of the Museum. Thank you everyone for assisting and contributing to a very successful day. The benefit of this event to the BBM&L was second only to our famous Cardington event in 1997.

I would like to particularly thank all the visiting pilots who attended giving their services and gas for inflations, and those enthusiasts who ‘chased and harried’ balloon owners to make their envelopes available, without them the event would have been restricted to Museum envelopes only – a fantastic effort. Lastly, a ‘thank you’ to all those who paid to get into the event, all for the financial benefit of the Museum.

I must of course mention David Hopkins, our host, for making available his fantastic venue at Lakeside at no cost to the Museum, and all the work he put in with us before the event, during (you must have seen him rushing around, plus inflating his own balloons as well as assisting others) and again on Sunday he was assisting in the dismantling process – a smashing host – thank you again David. And another David (Seex) – the LAAS Chairman, I must say ‘thank you’ also for once again financially supporting the BBM&L Inflation Day.

Without this support the Museum would be vulnerable, should the weather go against us so it is vital backing – thank you LAAS members.

So there you have it, a hard working weekend but satisfying, and didn’t the weather play it’s part – I really don’t have special powers, but just dammed lucky when it comes to date selection – long may it continue!

Thank you all.

Tim Turner
